Years ago I did the Wasatch Back Ragnar. When I did that one I was 1. Sick pregnant with McKenna and 2. NOT a runner! Since I have seriously started running here in AZ I had a strong desire to do another Ragnar and to do it better than my first one!
So... SEVERAL months ago I started to put together a team! I knew it was a big task but I had NO IDEA just how big and how much work it was going to be. The Del Sol Ragnar is 200.5 miles with a team of 12 runners! There was SO much to be done with months of meetings, lots of emails, phone calls, and getting 12 teammates on the same happy page! It was a lot of work, but I'm glad I did it! I was much more worried about all the logistics more than the actual running!
My most amazing mom in law came into town the night before to take care of the girls!

Our team name was 10 Sistas and 2 Mistas... but funny enough, one of our sistas had to drop out and we replaced her with a mista! It cost money to change our name so we didn't :) On the back of our shirts we put Sista and Mista... and the number of which we were running!!
Van 1 left at about 5 in the morning but since we were in van 2 we didn't have to leave until noon. I woke up about 5 in the morning though sick! McKenna and Adyson had been sick all week and my worst nightmare was coming true! I was having major stomach issues but at the time it was still bearable. Chris had to wake up and go take a test before as well! It was kinda a crazy morning!
When we finally got there we were so excited just to finally be able to start!
Our car was amazing and we really enjoyed everyone we were with! Here we are showing off our road kills! Every time you pass a runner you call it a road kill and we put another tally on our car! It's good motivation :)
Chris ran right before me! His legs were...
4.9
3.3
3.3
Chris absolutely rocked them! I was so proud of him especially since being in med school didn't allow him to train too much!
He also was always so willing to put my training over his... what a sweety!
Chris talked Nate (a fellow 3rd year and in our ward) into doing it with him so he wasn't the only "Mista" in our car! It was nice having the 2 guys! They navigated, drove, and worried about all that kind of stuff!!
My legs were...
9.6
4.2
5.9
After my first run I was super sick! My sickness was no longer bearable and I SERIOUSLY thought I was going to have to be done. I was on the verge of puking and I felt like I was going to pass out. I hadn't ate anything knowing it would make me more nauseous so I was so weak. We were driving to our next exchange point to wait for ca
r one to do their legs and we were right by our home. Chris pulled off and I had to get out because I was going to be sick. Since we were outside of our apartment I went in to decide what to do. I was so close to calling a friend to see if they would finish it for me but Chris remembered a prescription we had gotten for Adyson over Christmas for Zofran we hadn't filled. THANK HEAVENS! We filled it and it SAVED me! Without it I wouldn't have been able to finish! I kept calling it my magic little pill!!!
Right before my last leg!... SO ready to get it done with!
When Chris ran in after his leg he had to give me our GPS watch so it took a minute... it was a little anti-climatic since usually you want to sprint out right when your runner gets there!
Here we all are!... 10 (9) Sistas and 2 (3) Mistas! Hehehe
Nate made us balloon hats to run into the finish line!
We placed 156 out of 203.... lame...
I think they got that wrong! We finished in 33 hours 29 Minutes and 46 seconds!
Let's hear it for 10 Sistas and 2 Mistas!!!!!
And of course we couldn't have done it without Shannon coming out to watch the girls! They were so excited to spend time with her but unfortunately they spent their time being sick. While she was watching them she got puked and pooped on (SEVERAL times) and our water heater burst so she had to clean up a big ol mess! MAN do we owe her!!!!
Glad we did it... Glad it's over!
