Two...

Only 3 1/2 more days of only having 2...

It's funny how just when it starts to feel a little easy it gets mixed up... that's how life is right!!!  McKenna and Adyson have been playing really well together lately, Chris is home so I'm not a single parent anymore, and I'm pretty comfortable with our weekly routine.  This week it will all change which is scary but also very exciting that we get to meet the newest love of our life!

McKenna lately:
  • Started Sunbeams!  She is definitely NOT one of the kids that had a hard time moving from nursery to sunbeams.  She absolutely LOVES being one of the big kids and her teachers are amazing!  Yesterday she had her first primary activity... a breakfast to get to know her teachers better!  After the activity she said "Thanks for taking me to the breakfast Daddy, it was so much fun there!
  • Loves to know about when she was a baby.  Everyday she asks me to tell her what she liked and didn't like.  What she ate.  What she wore and how she acted.  She thinks it is hilarious that she hated snuggling when she was a baby.  She has also turned into such a snuggler lately!  She loves her some snuggle time!
  • Every night before she goes to sleep i sing to her our own version of "Hush Little Baby."  It starts with the normal words... mocking bird... diamond ring... then that's where I had to make up my own words since I didn't know anymore!  She loves it.  She always says, "Mom do even big kids get to have a song at night?"  She's very concerned that when she gets too old I won't sing to her anymore.  I assure her she will NEVER be too old :)
  • She's my little shopping buddy.  Last week Chris had a day off and she and i went shopping while Adyson slept.  We have a song we sing when it is just she and I.  It goes... "Mommy and McKenna, Mommy and McKenna, No. One. Else. ... No One. Else... She thinks it is just great!
  • When we were shopping I was looking at something for a little bit.  I turned around and she had on this big hot pink bra.  She hurried and ripped it off when she saw me and she was super embarrassed.  It was so funny and so cute!
  • She loves to have a babysitter... when our friends Kristina and Parker were coming over she suggested that we leave and they babysit them.  She loves anyone that will play with her!  This includes random kids she meets anywhere that are automatically her "Best friend!"
  • She is so not a home body... she is always asking to go somewhere... this is the OPPOSITE of Adyson!
  • Lately she thinks it is SOO funny to copy everything I say.  I DO NOT think this is funny. Chris actually thinks it's hilarious how bugged I get by it!  Drives me INSANE!
Adyson lately:
  • Started going to nursery for the first time without her big sister!  We think it is GREAT for her to have social time by herself!  After the first Sunday Chris asked one of the teachers, "So was she easier without her sister?"  He replied "Uh, yeah... actually she was!" Hahaha.
  • Right after Thanksgiving she lost her binky... so we naturally just took it away at that point.  This made her naps go down from 3-4 hours to maybe 45 min.  Over Christmas she was sleeping AT ALL... Chris and I were about to rip our hair out.  So we totally gave in and went and bought her a binky!  TERRIBLE I know!  But I really could care less.  She is back to her 3 hour naps where she just goes right in and puts herself to sleep!  Sometimes a mom's gotta do what a mom's gotta do :)
  • Like I said before, she is the opposite of McKenna... she is a home body!  When we drop McKenna off at preschool she always just wants to go home!
  • She is still the little snuggle bug that she has always been!
  • She has always been SUPER jealous if I EVER hold any other baby or kids so I've been REALLY trying to talk up her new baby sister!  She says she is going to hold her and love her and kiss her!
  • She STILL pretends to be a doggy all the time... including right this moment as I type!
  • She doesn't have too many friends that are just her own but the other day we were talking about McKenna's friends and we were talking about her friend Olive, who has a little sister Madge and Adyson VERY strongly said "No... Madgey MY FRIEND!"
  • She's as stubborn as a rock... sometimes we will take an hour of going back and forth to timeout to do a simple task like putting her jammies in the dirty close!  What a little stinker!
  • Her vocabulary gets larger everyday!  My favorite thing is during family scripture reading at night.  When it's her turn she repeats everything Chris says and it's so funny to hear such big words come out of her mouth :)
  • Her song of choice at night changes but at the moment it is Twinkle Twinkle Little Star :)

I love these two... can't wait to meet their next partner in crime!!!

Wildlife Zoo!

Last weekend some friends of our, the Ashby's, invited us to the Wildlife zoo!  They had free tickets to get in and it also included free lunch and 2 rides a piece!  Score!  It was a great family day with great company, lots of animals, and the fact that it was free made it even better :)

Chris fed the giraffes!  Their tongues were disgusting :)

Dave and Chris adventuring on the log ride...

And of course it wouldn't be complete without the girls favorite ride... the carousel :)

We had a blast!  Thanks for the invite Ashby Fam!!!

Insanity

Chris has truly learned the true meaning of insanity during this residency interview season.  Last week he finished his last and final interview!!!!!!!!!!!  PARTY!!!!!!!!!!!  He interviewed at 9 different programs in 9 different cities!...
  • Indianapolis, Indiana
  • St. Paul, Minnesota
  • Las Vegas, Nevada
  • Springfield, Massachusetts
  • York, Pennsylvania
  • Dallas, Texas
  • Little Rock, Arkansas
  • Omaha, Nebraska
  • Hershey, Pennsylvania
Before each interview the residents at each program get together with the interviewees for a dinner in addition to the interview so there was A LOT of scheduling flights, hotels, rental cars, etc, that all had to coordinate with making it on time and in the right spot for the next interview or back home for days on his current rotation, which is also going on during all these interviews!  It was truly INSANITY!  He did all this while smiling and being enthusiastic about each program!  He really enjoyed seeing all the programs and now we have to rank each one!  Our rank list is due in February.  We will rank all the programs he interviewed at and each program will rank all their interviewees.  Then in the middle of March there is what's called match week.  On Monday of that week you find out if you matched.  On Friday you find out where!  So... now we play the waiting game!  It feels SOOO great though to have the interviews behind us and as my last post about baby on her way... we are one step closer to her coming!  So great job Chris!  We are proud of you!  We are SOOOOOOOOOOOO glad to have you home for good!!!!!  You'll be a doctor here in no time :)

12 Days!

In 12 days we will be holding our new baby girl!!!  SAY WHAT???!!!  Craziness!

C-Section is scheduled for January 31st at 4:30 pm!

This is the first baby bump picture I took with baby #3... 37 weeks and 2 days

The girls are CONSTANTLY wanting to give their baby sister hugs and kisses through my tummy.  We talk A LOT about her coming into our home!  They are so excited so hopefully they still are when she is out of my tummy.  Adyson has what we refer to as a jealousy issue.  If I hold ANY baby or kid Adyson DOES NOT approve and freaks out saying "My mommy."  Hmmm... not sure how she's going to do with mommy loving on baby girl all the time.

At 33 weeks we had our 3d ultra sound... ADORABLE!  Her little arms were up at her face and she was comfy cozy sleeping in my belly :)

I cannot believe we are down to just a week and a half!  I can't wait to meet her and see what she looks like.  I can't wait to see if she is looks like McKenna and Adyson or if she will look different!

  • She's already started claiming her territory as the third girl.  She is very territorial about my stomach.  If anyone including me touches it she pushes right back... and hard!  If one of the girls is sitting on my lap... she likes to push and kick until they get off!

  • For the last month she has been on my sciatic nerves constantly!  It's only painful for a second but it makes me crouch over in pain at random moments making me look a little strange!

  • Over Christmas I was having lots of strange heart palpitations and Chris made me tell my doctor.  My doc made me go to a cardiologist and the cardiologist is making me wear a monitor for 24 hours although they only happen every once in a while now.  I'm pretty sure nothing will come of it.
  • Running... At the beginning of my pregnancy I commited to running as long as I could.   I pushed through the sickness and exhaustion of the first tri and litterally pushed the girls in the stroller while Chris was gone for 4 months and I have managed to keep on running!  I'm still running my 5 miles a day.  I love it.  I feel so pregnant when I'm not running and then when I run,  I pretty much forget I am pregnant!  It feels great!  My motivation?  I gained 65 lbs with McKenna and only 18 with Adyson.  I know my body and that I cannot lose any weight until after I'm done nursing and so I was determined to keep my weight closer to what I gained with Adyson!
  • I'm in MAJOR nesting mode from getting rid of half of our possessions and cleaning out every nook and cranny to making a car seat cover and getting her take home outfit :)
  • We have a name that the girls and I have been calling her for awhile.  Chris is just now giving into it... we'll see who wins :)
  • At 37 weeks... I was still a 0.  Not dilating at all.  This shouldn't surprise me since I know my body doesn't dilate but there's always a thought that just maybe!  Nope!  A big fat 0!

12 days??????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Christmas Break!

Our Christmas 2012 in Pictures!...

CHRISTMAS EVE...

We started our Christmas Eve with Papa reading from the scriptures the story of Baby Jesus while the kiddies played with nativities.  Then we watched the movie!

Opening Christmas jammies...

Making sure Santa is covered with cookies and milk!...

Opening gifts from Nana and Papa and Aunt Jaclyn on Christmas Eve so they weren't too overwhelmed with gifts the next morning!!

Family pic... notice unborn baby girl already has a matching vest for next winter :)

CHRISTMAS MORNING...

Santa found us in UT!

The kiddies opened their gifts first...

McKenna gave Adyson her very own barbies and Adyson gave McKenna a digital camera :)

Then they gave each other big hugs <3

Then the adults opened up our gifts... Chris spoiled me with jewelry, and a bunch of running stuff!  Chris had said earlier that sometimes I'm a "little too bargainy with his gifts..." so I showed him and got him the tablet he's been wanting forever :)  It was fun to surprise him!

Then we skyped with Grandma and Grandpa Dalby and opened their gifts!...

The rest of the day we relaxed and napped until the evening when we went down to Great Grandma and Grandpa Baum's for dinner!  It was an AMAZING day and we were SO royally spoiled by all!

SNOW TIME!...

Before we left for UT all the girls could talk about was playing in the snow!  I think since McKenna had been watching so many Christmas shows she just figured that's what you do at Christmas!  Nana and Papa had gotten the girls coats and we went and got them some snow pant and gloves when we got there!  They were in heaven!  At least they were in heaven until they realized how cold it was :)

Nana promised she would make a snow angel... and... she did :)

We went to Wreck it Ralph... so stinkin cute!...

We went to the annual $10 party and Great Grandma and Grandpa Baum's!  Emma gave Adyson a Minnie piggy bank!  Jaclyn gave McKenna an Easy bake microwave kit and a littlest pet shop!  Chris got a bag of doritos and told that it would make sense later... it did make sense when I got an olive garden gift card :)

The girls LOVED them some Gretchen time!

We went to Kangaroo Zoo and the kiddies had a blast jumping!...

We had dinner at Grandma Kay's!...

Fun things we did that are not pictured...

  • Chris and his dad went snowboarding!
  • A lot of nightly card games and a zillion Settler games!
  • Shopping!
  • Nana and Papa watched the girls so Chris and I could use our Olive Garden gift card!
  • Cousin and Sista time at Aunt Shanna's!
  • LOTS and LOTS of snow!
  • New Years Eve at the Fowlers!
  • I fell down the stairs and really hurt my tail bone... boo
Sigh... now it's all over... I HATE when it is all over!  Thank you to Nana and Papa and everyone else for making it PERFECT!
