The Power of a Chocolate Chip!

About a month ago I gave in...

I gave in to the fact that I knew McKenna was ready to be potty trained. This is usually something mom's would be thrilled about. I was... kinda bugged. Diapers were just so easy. We didn't have to run to the potty in every store and when we were on car trips... who needs a bathroom? But I knew McKenna had been ready for a while. She was practically potty training herself! Hahaha. I had looked at charts, books, reward systems and all the other stuff out there... who knew I wouldn't even need them!

So a week before Chris left McKenna started potty training. The first day... no accident! Her reward... a single chocolate chip. Who knew a single chocolate chip would do the trick!

I let her run around in the nude the first couple days. I had expected to be house bound for at least an entire week but when Chris came home on day 2 and wanted to go to dinner... I decided to try going out with her. I was all nervous... I brought her potty chair seat that fits on the toilet. I had her single chocolate chip. I asked her every 2 minutes if she needed to go. She refused until in the middle of dinner she just said "I need to go potty." So... we went... and she did. Like it was nothing! SAWEET! All my worrying was for nothing! In the month that she has been potty trained I think she has had 2 accidents. One where she was running to the potty and one at Adyson's butterfly party... there was just too much fun to be had! We have had to work a little more on going #2... for that she gets her absolute most favorite thing... to go to the mall and go on the horsey ride. Whatever works! :)

I love this picture... "Mom... seriously?"

I'm so proud of my big girl! I had gotten her some Minnie Mouse big girl panties and then we went to the store and she picked out tinker bell ones :) I was putting on diapers at nap and night time but she was always dry so I just stopped that.

My favorite thing was when McKenna would first put her new underwear on... she loved looking at herself in the mirror :)

And then she always turns around and checks out the back :)

Woot Woot! Go McKenna!!! Thanks for cutting our diaper bill in half!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Adyson's 1st Butterfly Party!

The weekend before Chris left we had Adyson's big butterfly first B-Day party!

We had so much fun with a few of our family and friends!

Everything was lime green, hot pink, and had wings! Including the birthday girl and her big sister :) ...

The Decor...

The favors and Pinata bags...

For food we had Adyson's favorite!... Pizza and fruit! We also had salad!

Adyson with a mouthful of pizza :) ...

The Cake Table...

What Adyson was really excited about!...

I made a butterfly pinata!...

Adyson's turn with the pinata...

McKenna's turn at the pinata...

We didn't have too many older kids there... so I made Derek do the official breaking of the pinata :) It didn't take long!

My Grandad and Granny made it down for the party and it was my Granny's 77th Birthday! So I made her a little cake! The cake had 2 turtles on it since she collects turtles! We sang happy birthday to her and she made a wish!...

Then we sang happy birthday to Adyson!...

We opened presents before Adyson ate her cake!... She was spoiled rotten by grandparents and friends! Thanks to everyone for sending or bringing gifts to our little butterfly!

Of course McKenna was always right there to "help!"

McKenna even got to open a present of her own from Great grandad and granny! She was in heaven!

Adyson (or really McKenna) opening her gift from mommy and daddy... a water table for our porch! ...

Then it was the big moment that everyone (mommy) was waiting for! The cake smash!...

She giggled through the the whole thing and just kept looking at me like "really? You want me to do this?"

Eating a fondant butterfly :) ...

After a little while she got more into it!...

Last but not least, my friend Jessy took some adorable pics of Adyson after doing a cake smash!...

Thanks Jessy! We love the pics :) Jessy also took most of the pics from the party :)

Thanks to those who helped us celebrate! Happy Birthday Adyson! We love you!!!!!
