If you'd like to know the full story... keep reading...
I woke up early Tuesday morning in pain. I was not yet convince they were contractions because at the point of being 9 days overdue... I had officially given up all hope of going into labor on my own. As the early morning went on and I could time between those horrible pains I realized they were probably contractions. We had a doctors appointment that morning at 8:45 so we decided to just wait until then to see where we were sitting. We put all of our stuff in the car and left hoping to not have to go back home. When my Dr. came in... he said even if I had progressed at all, he would send me down since I was a zero for so long. I was dialated to a 2 and I was so thrilled when he said he'd call them downstairs and tell them we were coming down. It was crazy. We were officially having a baby. We waited so long and it was finally happening.
We got into our room and I got my epidural... which embarassingly I cried for, and then we waited. As my contractions got harder and closer together I still was not progressing and the chances of having a C-section were getting higher and higher. Finally at 6:00 that night after having labored all day I was checked and told I was only at a 3. Not only that, but she wasn't dropping down. I was immediately put in line for a C-section.
I was terrified to say the least. With as much waiting as we did you'd think I'd be ready for anything but I was so scared. As they rolled me into the operating room I tried to stay calm. I adore my Dr. and for those that don't know, Dr. Terry also delivered Chris! I trust him with my life. Thank heavens Chris was by my side. Although you are completely numb during the surgery, you can still feel all the pressure. It was such an odd feeling and as they were taking her out... I went into a panic attack. It was hard because I could hear my baby crying in the distance, but I was litteraly freaking out. I couldn't breathe and I was just panicing. I also was having extreme pain up by my colar bone. As they told me later, sometimes during a c-section air bubbles can travel up and cause that pain. They quickly gave me some medication which was a life saver. I went from panic attack to feeling like I was in a dream. The only bad part was that I couldn't even keep my eyes open to see my new baby girl.
The good news is that McKenna is PERFECT! Everything about her is good! She couldn't be healthier and we are so happy that she is now with us. Words can't describe the kind of love that we have. Chris is of course a perfect dad like I knew he would be. She is already a daddy's girl, and how can I blame her with a dad like Chris.
It is now Thursday night and we are still in the hospital. We will be here until tomorrow night or Saturday morning. Life couldn't be perfect and we look forward to every new day with our new princess!
More pictures to come!!!!!
